Our last concert was on Saturday 18 May 2019 at King's School, Bruton at 7.30pm. We performed a lovely piece by Michael Haydn (brother of the more famous, Joseph). His St Ursula Mass is a new discovery: bright, summery and demonstrating a strong connection in its style to that of Schubert or Mozart.  We are very pleased that four postgraduate vocal students from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, led by soprano Sian Dicker, who has performed for us before, were our soloists and there was a small professional orchestra. The concert also included songs from Leonard Bernstein's now almost 'classic' West Side Story.

Our 2018 Christmas Concert in December included a variety of shorter pieces, performed along with a feast of seasonal music and carols, some with audience participation. American composer – Randall Thompson, Norwegian composer - Ola Gjeilo and the more popular John Rutter are just some of the composers featured. We welcomed Tiggy Brearley as guest oboe soloist and Angela Ashworth, as our soprano soloist. We also sang the piece written for our 25th Anniversary by Andrew Moore: Song’s Eternity which was first performed in May, at our Gala Concert. This was a fitting end to our celebratory year as well as an atmospheric celebration of Christmas!

Pictures of our concerts and lists of what we sang are on the Gallery pages.

Our Tea Concert in November 2018 featured some light and popular songs, and soloists from our choir performrd some solos and duets. ‘Beyond the Sea’, ‘All the things you are’ and ‘Never on a Sunday’ are some of the songs the choir ang. This was followed by afternoon tea.

For the Community Messiah performance at St Mary's Church on 16 September 2018 we were joined by the choirs of St Mary's, King's School, Sexey's School and Bruton School for Girls, with a small professional orchestra under the baton of Edward Goater from Wells.  We were fortunate to be able feature soloists from all five choirs. These were mostly young pupils from the schools and their singing was of an extremely high standard.   Angela Ashworth and Geoff Allan from BCS were among the soloists.  The whole event was supported by a large and enthusiastic audience and was very well received. We are grateful to Edward Goater for bringing the whole event together in such a short space of time and everybody is to be congratulated on their detailed preparation and enthusiastic participation that made it such a success.  The performance was in aid of Macmillan.

Our concert on 19 May 2018 was our 25th Anniversary Gala Concert and Celebration of the Royal Wedding.

The concert was a celebration of our choir, with an added  Royal twist.  We were joined by an orchestra to perform Handel's Coronation Anthem: My Heart is Inditing and the concert also included a piece commissioned for the occasion by local composer, Andrew Moore: Song's Eternity, Rutter's Birthday Madrigals and an eclectic mix of songs by Scott Joplin, from his opera Treemonisha. We welcomed back soprano soloist Catherine Greenwell to perform Handel's Let the Bright Seraphim and we also included a Concerto for three trumpets by Telemann.

In addition there was some audience participation!

Our 2017 Christmas Concert was on Monday 18 December at St. Mary’s Church and included the first part of Mendelssohn’s Oratorio Christus, music by American composer Randall Thompson as well as many traditional Christmas favourites. On this occasion we were joined by soprano soloist Angela Ashworth.

On 14 October 2017 there was a Choral and Brass Spectacular – a combined concert of local choirs and brass, featuring Jeff Purtle and David Bertie on trumpets. In this concert BCS joined forces with St Mary’s Church choir.

Our Summer Concert was on 20 May 2017 at Kings’ Bruton and presented a programme of music for choir and brass. We were pleased to be joining with The Godfrey Kneller Brass Ensemble (directed by David Bertie) for this event, which featured a lively mix of Renaissance and Contemporary music. We were also  joined by soprano soloist: Maria Marton, in the Jubilate by  Bob Chilcott.  Other music featured included Monteverdi’s Beatus Vir and works by Gabrieli, Pitoni and Viadana.

Each December we sing our Carols by Candlelight concert, either at Bruton School for Girls or in St Mary's church

in 2016 our concert was in May at King's School, where the music included Mozart's Regina Coeli K127, George Dyson: Three Songs of Praise and songs from Gershwin's Porgy and Bess. The concert also featured cello soloist Arturo Serna.

In May 2015 at King's School, we sang the Haydn Missa Brevis in F, and George Shearing's songs and sonnets.

Before that was Rutter's Magnificat on Sunday 16 November 2014 when we joined the King's choir at King's School.

In May 2014 we were in the Memorial Hall at King's School, when we sang Vivaldi's Gloria and Bob Chilcott's Little Jazz Mass.

At the tea-concert in November 2013 in the Longhouse a packed audience was treated to a performance of light music. The music was followed by tea and scrumptious cakes with vintage china.

In November 2013 we joined the choir of King’s School (plus an orchestra) to sing Fauré's Requiem.
